A trip to Bangalore for VIJYOSHI

Day 1 The date was 29th of November, one day after our 1st semester was over. All 21 of us were in a jolly mood. We all had our luggage  some having pretty heavy ones as if they were going to build a house and start a family there (dedicated to Hardik  alias Thhippi :P ). And some had extremely small ones (like me of course), as if they were going to NISER to attend a lecture (i.e. with an empty bag). Please dont clap for me. :P :D . But all of us, no matter the size of luggage, were desperately waiting for  the bus to come. That should be enough to show unity in diversity.  :D The bus started from Niser probably at 11 am ( I dont exactly remember).  We reached the station in time. Some had come along to ensure our safety and security. :P . Thanks to Ayush, Ashish, Abhilash and Kiran. We all boarded the train and took our respective seats. Of course, all had bought tons of eatables and cold-drinks at the station, adding to their massive luggage. The train left the Bhubaneswar sta

What is Love?

LOVE. Every language has a word for it. Many different signs are used to show love, to express love. We do it so often and so easily that if we look around us, we cannot escape without seeing a heart symbol or without associating our love for some person or object or a memory. We love people, we love things, we love emotions, memories, we love animals, nature, books, fiction, drama, science and so on. But do we ever wonder what love is? I mean sure, we all get the idea, but do we really really know? Philosophers, authors, scientists and romantics have all wondered and tried to break down love into a basic definition to try to understand it. But these definitions are always somewhat vague and vary depending on the person concerned. It is rightly said that "To each its own". Since I am completely lost in my quest for a meaning for it, I would like to quote a few authors on the definition and their idea of love; quotes that I personally like or appreciate: “You know you'

Maybe life is fair?

Many people say that life is not fair. But sometimes, I feel like I don't agree. Do not misunderstand me; I still think that people are not fair, society is not fair, and many of the rules we follow are not fair. If you believe in a God, luck or destiny, they are not fair either. But maybe life is? Let me give you an example: you might think you are working hard but are not getting any rewards, recognition or money to show for it. Does it prove that life isn't fair? Think of it this way: you are pursuing things that are provided by people or society; things like fame or money and hence you are being treated in an unfair way. But on the other hand, if you are satisfied by what you do, work hard to get what you really want for yourself and have that 'inner peace', then you are doing great. Isn't life fair by providing those things which are under your control and not providing those things which are under the control of some unfair entity? I completely understan

I Wonder

Often I wonder while laying on my bed and unable to sleep: what is the purpose of life? If it were not for the intelligence of human beings, I would have known nothing of my existence, merely living like an animal. If it were not for the records of history, I would have never known the people and the time before me. But the thought that haunts me the most is: How can I ever know what shall pass after I am gone? I wont be a part of it; I wont be there. How can I ever know what happens after I close my eyes for the last time? Will I still be a part of it, or will I perish into the realms of nothingness ? Alas! I seek for an answer to the unanswerable question. And I refuse to rest in peace unless I get my answer.
